OMOM Maasai Community Foundation Engages Youth in Arusha During 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

Arusha, December 2, 2024 – As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, OMOM Maasai Community Foundation organized an impactful awareness event at Manyara Secondary School. The activity aimed to educate and inspire students to stand against gender-based violence while promoting gender equality within the community.

The event featured interactive workshops, cultural performances, and discussions led by Maasai women leaders who shared powerful stories of resilience. Students pledged to advocate for equality and signed a banner symbolizing their commitment to ending violence.

This brought together students, teachers, and local leaders to discuss pressing issues related to gender-based violence (GBV), aiming to raise awareness and encourage actionable change. The theme, “Unite for a Violence-Free Future,”resonated deeply with participants as the foundation highlighted its mission of empowering the Maasai people, especially women and girls, through education and socio-economic programs.

OMOM reaffirmed its mission to empower women and youth through education and socio-economic programs, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in creating a violence-free future. This event serves as a testament to the foundation’s dedication to uplifting the Maasai community.
